Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year. There’s an organic shift as the green landscape starts to turn red. And like the blending of autumnal colours, Michelle and Taka’s wedding was a beautiful union of their Irish, Italian and Japanese heritages.
I’ve always loved how weddings are occasion to remember the importance of our origins – our sources, if you like. Our family, our culture, those who have gone before us.
The bride and groom folded hundreds of silver and white paper cranes, a symbol of longevity and peace in Taka’s Japanese culture. Guests were given traditional italian bomboniere of white sugared almonds in handmade silk bags for good luck.
In being married, in coming together to be bonded as family – we make promises to love and cherish our partner’s family as our own. Michelle said, “Seeing how Taka was with my family, who mean the world to me, was when I knew he was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. We’re a team.”
I hope you enjoy these images of their intimate wedding in autumn, surrounded by family and friends.
