Hi, my name is Jonathan, but you can call me Jon.
Over the last 17 years, the privilege of being a photographer has affirmed to me, again and again, that our deepest happiness and meaning is found in the people we love and the stories we tell.
In photographing the human connection through weddings, engagements and families, I’ve been blessed to witness something of how we each begin, and how we become. How we hope, even when we have doubted.

I was once asked during an interview to describe my photography style. Words like “journalistic, candid, natural, minimalistic” all came to mind. But I finally blurted out - “I hope when you look back at the photographs from your wedding day, it felt like a dear friend had captured those moments.”

Getting married myself in 2016 changed the way I photographed weddings. My wife and I became very aware of how rare it was to have so many people we loved together in the same place. Since then, I’ve paid just as much attention to what’s happening around you, the people you invited, their reactions and the moments you might not even see on the day.

A subtle approach
I’m slightly introverted, and I think one of the superpowers that comes with that is being able to read a room. I notice the small shifts in energy, when to step in, when to give a little direction, and when it’s better to leave a moment alone. That shapes the way I photograph weddings, quietly, unobtrusively, and without making the day feel like it’s being constantly interrupted.

I started photographing weddings in my teens, and all these years later I still love watching how every wedding unfolds differently. Experience has taught me when to anticipate a moment and when to simply let things happen. Yes, I photograph weddings across Melbourne and regional Victoria. This includes the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, Daylesford, Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula, Ballarat, the Dandenong Ranges and Macedon Ranges. I’m always happy to travel further for the right wedding, with a small travel fee for locations outside Melbourne metro. I also photograph weddings and other sessions in Singapore once or twice a year — it gives me a chance to visit family, so I’m always happy to make the trip.

I photograph weddings, engagements, pre-weddings and families across Melbourne, Victoria and Singapore. The approach is the same across all of them: natural, relaxed and focused on real moments rather than anything overly posed.

You’ll receive some sneak previews within 48 hours, with the full wedding gallery delivered within 4–6 weeks. Your gallery includes high-resolution and web-resolution versions of your images, along with a custom slideshow to help you relive the day. There’s also an online store if you’d like to order premium prints, and fine art albums can be purchased after the wedding.

Yes — I’ll guide you with simple prompts rather than putting you into lots of poses. Around 90% of my couples either don’t like having their photo taken or simply don’t have many photos together, so you definitely won’t be alone — in fact, you’ll be very much my kind of couple. I’ll give you enough direction to help you feel comfortable, while keeping an eye out for all the little in-between moments.

I normally photograph weddings on my own because I want to be as unobtrusive as possible. Over the years, I’ve learnt how to anticipate moments and be in the right place without making you feel like you’ve got a team of paparazzi following you around all day. A second photographer can always be added if you’d like one, particularly for larger weddings of around 300 guests or more.

Nine hours of coverage is usually enough to photograph most of the wedding day, from getting ready through to the reception. Extra hours can always be added if your timeline needs a little more time.

Yes, I’m always happy to help you work through the photography timeline before the wedding. We can make sure there’s enough time for everything without making the day feel like it revolves around photos.

Yes, we can absolutely include family and group photos. They might not be the most exciting part of the day, but they’re often some of the most important photos to have. I’ll get a list from you beforehand and we’ll appoint a couple of people who know everyone to help gather the right people, so we can get through them as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Yes, we can go through a full wedding gallery together during our video chat. It gives you a much better idea of how I photograph an entire wedding day, rather than only seeing the highlights that naturally make it onto a photographer’s website.
