I was a little nervous going into this family session. Trish is an incredible family photographer herself at Tealily Photography, and this was also the first time I had photographed an entire family session on film.
But there is something about film that feels especially right for family photography. You don't need everything to be perfectly posed or polished. The grain, movement and little imperfections somehow make the photographs feel more alive — especially with three energetic kids running around.
The Chong family session was really just about letting everyone be themselves. Playing, laughing and embracing a little bit of chaos along the way. These are often the photographs I love most — the honest moments that might not seem particularly important now, but become more precious as the kids grow older.

And for the record, Trish warned me beforehand that the kids might be difficult, so I bribed them with bubble tea. By the end of the session I was apparently Uncle Jon, the bubble tea man.
