I’ve always loved photographing families at home because there’s very little that needs to be created. The familiar rooms, favourite toys and ordinary routines already tell so much about what family life feels like at this particular point in time.
For the Chung family, we kept the session relaxed and simply spent time together around their Ascot Vale home. Their little daughter was free to play and explore while I photographed the candid, everyday moments in between.
They were also just about to become a family of four, which made these photographs feel like a small record of their last season as a family of three.
These quieter at-home sessions are some of my favourite family photographs to make — honest, warm and personal without feeling like a photoshoot.
