Places to visit with Kids

With the exception of a few months, it tends to be really hot and humid in Singapore all year round. Visiting with kids can be a challenge, especially if they aren’t used to the heat and humidity. We tend to visit family in Singapore once or twice a year and these are the places the kids want to revisit. Given the heat, it probably comes as no surprise that the waterparks and waterplay areas are particular favourites.

1) Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden

A free waterplay area within Botanical Gardens, great for ages under 7.

Tip : If it’s a hot sunny day, go in the evening or early morning. Weekdays for less crowds.

2) Art Science Museum

The iconic museum is where Future World : Where Art Meets Science has become a permanent exhibition by TeamLabs. If you’ve been to a TeamLabs exhibition in Japan, curb your expectations - it’s not as big and expansive as the Japan ones.
Tip : Free for kids on Fridays (during non Singapore school holidays).

3) Splash N Surf @ Kallang Wave Mall

A free waterplay area with a small water playground area, great for young kids on a hot day. Great for ages under 9. Read more info here.
Tip : The mall is pretty mid, so don’t expect to wander around. There is a rock climbing section which might work well for older kids.

4) Far East Organisation Children’s Garden @ Gardens by the Bay

A free waterplay area at Gardens by the Bay. More suited for kids younger than 6, as there are no slides or playground equipment.

Tip : Go on weekdays to avoid the crowds.

5) The Floor is Lava - mulitple locations

A recent favourite - a good indoor activity that is not overly expensive. There are many different outlets and companies that offer this. We went the one at Marina Square and the kids had a ball.

6) Jewel @ Changi Airport

Air-conditioned, easy to get to and with plenty to keep the kids entertained. Beyond the shops and restaurants, there’s a whole range of attractions, from the Bouncing and Walking Nets to the Canopy Park, mazes and slides. And of course, there’s the Rain Vortex — the world’s tallest indoor waterfall — which the kids can see from all sorts of angles, including from the Skytrain passing through Jewel.

Tip: This is a particularly good option when the weather is miserable outside. If you’re flying in or out of Singapore, it’s also an easy place to spend a few hours before your flight without having to make a separate trip.
