Before they moved out of their beautiful black and white heritage home, Nicole wanted to photograph their family in the place that had held so much of their life together.
Just a stone’s throw from Newton Hawker Centre, the house had been where the kids grew up — full of familiar corners, everyday routines, and all the little memories that build up over the years without you really noticing.
So rather than making the session about anything elaborate, we simply photographed them at home, in the spaces that had become so familiar to them.
I’ve always loved sessions like this because the meaning often grows with time. A bedroom, a doorway, the front steps, the way the light falls through a room — ordinary things can become incredibly significant once you’ve moved on.
I’m really glad we had the chance to document this chapter for them before they said goodbye to their house in Monk’s Hill.
